Lowcountry roundup: Beaufort, Bluffton baseball rally for playoff victories


In the first round of the SC High School League playoffs, Tommy Winburn scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning to hoist Beaufort past West Florence, 5-4.

On Thursday, Beaufort will play Aiken in a winner’s bracket game.

In the sixth inning, Beaufort trailed 4-3 when Malcolm Webb’s RBI double knotted the game. Webb went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Winburn led the club with three hits, while Zack Talbert picked up the victory in relief with two RBI.

North Augusta 4, Bluffton 6

In the Class 4A baseball playoffs, Jackson Arseneau hit a go-ahead two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to lift Bluffton past North Augusta.

On Thursday, the Bobcats will play in a winner’s bracket game at Hartsville.

Bluffton was behind 4-3 in the eighth inning before scoring three runs. Bluffton was led by Cody Bradt, who had three hits. Nate Hoyt went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.

Miles Frye won the race after going the distance.

Hartsville wins by a score of 11 to 1 against Hilton Head Island.

Hartsville defeated Hilton Head Island in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs with three hits and two RBI from Jackson Moore.

On Thursday, the Seahawks face North Augusta in an elimination game. HHI’s Christian Stratis went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Williamsburg 10, Hilton Head Christian 0 In the SCISA 2A playoffs, Williamsburg scored nine runs in the third inning to win.

HHCA, which defeated Greenwood Christian 15-1 on Monday, will play the winner of the Greenwood Christian/Thomas Heyward game on Friday in an elimination game.

The games were canceled due to weather.

May River vs. South Florence and Hilton Head Prep vs. Laurence Manning postseason baseball games were rained out on Tuesday and will be rescheduled for Wednesday.
