Freedom holds off Herndon 2-1 to earn Class 6 baseball title

The Freedom Eagles racked up a run in the 4th and 7th innings and held off a seventh-inning rally by the Herndon Hornets to secure a 2-1 triumph in the Virginia Course 6 baseball championship game June 11 at John Champe Senior High School in Aldie.

Junior bottle Luke Proehl carried a nothing into the seventh inning on his way to gaining a complete-game win. The Eagles asserted their first state championship in program history.

A day previously, Freedom scored 8 unanswered go to transform a 6-0 deficit into an 8-6 triumph over Lake Braddock in the state semifinals.

Flexibility (26-2) won the Potomac District competition title and also advanced to the Region 6B event national championship leading up to the state playoffs.
